Why most “world-tour” coffee clubs
taste the same in a different envelope.

Here’s something the big subscription clubs don’t mention in their ads.
They don’t fly to farms. They buy from broker warehouses in New Jersey and Antwerp, where green coffee sits in burlap for months before someone bags it with a country name on the front.
There’s a name for it inside the industry. The Broker Warehouse Shuffle.
The “single origin” on the label is technically true. The farm is usually a co-op of hundreds of growers, blended for consistency. The freshness is gone by week two on the container ship. And almost none of those clubs lab-test for the mold toxins and pesticides that end up in the cup.
If you’ve ever paid $16 a bag for a “micro-lot” that tasted like every other dark roast — this is why. It isn’t your palate going dull. It’s the freshness window closing weeks before the bag reached your kitchen.

You deserve the actual world. Not the warehouse.

Tastes Different.

Single farm, specialty grade

Single farm, specialty grade

Not a co-op blend. A specific farm or micro-lot, scored 86+ on the Specialty Coffee Association scale — the top 1% of all coffee grown on earth. The same grade that sells for $40 to $80 a bag in Cup of Excellence auctions.

Our buyers fly in. They cup the lot at origin. They lock the whole thing, or they walk away.

Cerro Blanco Fully Washed

Bourbon & Catimor • Light Roast • 1,500m

Tucked into the foothills where the Peruvian Andes spill down into the Amazon, San Martín is a region with a story most coffee drinkers have never heard. A generation ago, these slopes grew coca. Today, they grow some of South America's most expressive specialty coffee - a transformation led by smallholder farmer cooperatives who chose to start over. Cerro Blanco - "white hill" in Spanish - is one of those microlots: a high-grown Bourbon and Catimor block, hand-picked at peak ripeness and fully washed at the cooperative's own station before being slow-dried in the sun.

The result is a Peruvian cup unlike most you've tried: bright with tropical fruit, sweet without ever feeling heavy. There's ripe pineapple on the nose, a fizzy lift of orange soda mid-palate, and a clean, vanilla-bean-sweet finish that lingers like the tail of a good dessert wine.

“Better than Atlas. Cleaner than Trade. The only one I didn’t cancel.”

I’ve tried four subscriptions in two years. Sip of the Month is the only one still in my cabinet. The Idjwi natural was wild. February’s Yemen was the best cup I’ve made at home, full stop.

“My husband thought I was wasting money on coffee. Then he tasted Burundi.”

He now refuses to drink anything else. We’re on month seven and I genuinely look forward to the box every month. The story cards are framed in our kitchen.

“I’m a roaster. I almost didn’t sign up.”

I expected a marketing-heavy box of mediocre beans. The Idjwi was real specialtygrade quality — the kind of coffee I’d have to fly to Addis Ababa to source myself. Whoever’s buying for Fabula knows what they’re doing.

“Bought it as a gift for my dad. Stole half the bag.”

Best Father’s Day gift I’ve ever given. He calls me every time a new country shows up. We compare tasting notes on the phone like it’s a book club.

Sip of the Month is not for everyone. That’s the point.

It’s not for people who drink coffee because it’s fast.
It’s not for people who buy whatever’s on sale at the grocery store and call it “fine.”
It’s not for people who think “Colombian” is a flavor profile.
It’s for the other kind of coffee drinker. The ones who grind their own beans. Who own a scale. Who have opinions about water temperature. Who got into Trade or Atlas and felt the coffee was flat by month four. Who would rather pay more for one extraordinary bag than save fifty cents on a forgettable one.
If that describes you — or the person you’re quietly becoming — this is the club built for you.

You work hard. Your morning deserves to reflect it.

The First-Cup Promise.

Try your first month. Brew it your way. Sit with it.

If that first bag doesn’t change the way you think about what a cup of coffee can taste like — if it isn’t the most interesting thing in your kitchen this month — email us one sentence and we’ll refund your first order in full.

No forms. No interrogation. No restocking fee. We can make this promise because in three years of shipping Sip of the Month, our refund rate is under 2.4%. The coffee earns the cup. We’re betting yours will too.

One honest caveat: we are not the cheapest subscription in this category. Atlas and Trade undercut us by a few dollars a bag. If cheapest matters most, we’re the wrong club.

We’re the club for the other thing.
