Fabula’s “Sip of the Month” is a different and exclusive offering coming out every 4 weeks. It is a wonderful way for our fellow coffee-fans to try a different region, bean or roast. 

“Fabula” means story. We believe every bean has a story to tell, connected to the regions, history, environments, and their farmers.

Much like Hispaniola, which is split between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, the island of Timor is home to two nations. The western half belongs to Indonesia, while the eastern half is the independent nation of Timor-Leste. Though not widely known for coffee, Timor-Leste is quietly making a name for itself in the specialty coffee world…

Coffee has played a key role in Timor-Leste’s history. Portuguese traders introduced it centuries ago, replacing the once-thriving sandalwood trade. By 1860, coffee accounted for over 50% of the country’s exports. However, profits remained in the hands of Portuguese landowners, while local farmers saw little return for their hard work.
