Coffee for Cold Brew - 12oz

Our cold brew coffee grounds are purpose-made for this delicious, and increasingly popular brewing method. It’s sourced for this purpose and roasted dark, for the best results.

The cold brew is best with a full-bodied, rounded roast, low in acidity and high in sugar browning: It will be sweet and balanced by itself, and if mixed with cream or milk, it will react deliciously with the dairy fats. We source beans that can take higher heat and for extended time, so you get the full caramelization and body, without getting bitter or burnt.

We source the beans from Mexico's southern highlands. This region has long been considered one of the most culturally important places in all of Mexico. Many of the people here are descendants of pre-Spanish indigenous groups, whose cultures still thrive through local culinary, social, and agricultural practices.

It is these people who make up the majority of coffee producers. In this area, organic practices are common with technical training provided by cooperatives and coffee organizations. Old variety Typica trees are cultivated only in this specific pocket of geography, which in turn generates the distinct and coveted flavor profile these communities have come to be known for.

The logistics surrounding the transportation are complicated, due to lack of proper infrastructure. It is not an easy feat, but it pays off with complex, defined, and balanced flavor notes – perfect for your cold brew. In the cup expect approachable and classic flavors of nut-butters, baked sweet pastries, and baking spices.

The beans are pre-ground to coarse. The coarse grind allows the beans more time to extract, slowly and thoroughly, to get all the flavors out. If ground too fine, the coffee would become bitter in the notes. We recommend around 12 hours for extraction.
